Description

Using Eastern Hardrock Maple and Central American Jatobá wood, harvested in Forest Stewardship Council-certified sustainable groves, each Huffman Woodworks Stærk chop board is two solid inches thick of end-grain surface, offering the density, heft, and construction of a traditional professional chopping block in the form factor of a Danish Modern cutting board. With a rich, solid grain structure, Eastern Hardrock Maple and Central American Jatobá make an ideal surface for your master grade kitchen knives.

Properly maintained, this chopping board should outlast every other tool in your kitchen.

Each Huffman Woodworks Stærk chop board is constructed with more than 70 individually cut end-grain pieces of hardwood; arranged in a complex pattern with no four-corner glue points; dramatically increasing strength and stability. Each board is made by hand, one at a time.

possibly the best pure-wood chopping board in the world

We have tested every wood chopping board surface imaginable. More common choices like Acacia and Bamboo have their virtues, but we have found few wood varieties that offer the combination of strength, density, and breathability of Central American Jatobá and Eastern Hardrock Maple. We believe that they are simply among the best chopping board materials on Earth.

Ecological sustainability is a core value of Huffman Woodworks. Therefore we only utilize Jatobá and Maple harvested from Forest Stewardship Council-certified sustainable forests. Jatobá’s and Maple’s density ensures that your board is surprisingly heavy; a feature that helps provide stability on a slippery kitchen counter.

Jatobá and Maple are very challenging wood to work with; cutting and sanding Jatobá and Mapletypically takes four times as long as with other hardwoods. But we won’t compromise. They are among the best chopping board woods in the world, therefore we use them..
